It's Story time!

People have always loved stories; they are found in every culture, and predate written language. We find them in prehistoric cave art, nursery rhymes, campfire tales, water cooler anecdotes, even marketing—stories are everywhere. Truly, storytelling is an art form.

Stories are our interpretations of the events that we experience, and a good story makes us think, makes us feel, and makes us want to know more. But more than that, stories are a way of connecting with and relating to others, and seeing life from another perspective.

A good story must be easy to understand, capture the audience’s attention, and keep them engaged, typically through an emotional response of some sort. The bare facts might be fascinating, but it is up to the storyteller to arrange them logically and infuse them with emotion so that the audience wants to hear them and will remember them.

Noke Tales aims to capture stories from the Roanoke Valley and share them with you, whether you are a local, or visiting this site from far away.
