Publicity has been good for Caramels by Sam: The day after an article about her business appeared in the Roanoke Times, Sam received a 6:52 a.m. message from a gentleman in Radford who wanted to place an order.
Then there was the gentleman who made an entrance into Brighter Image holding the newspaper article, in search of Sam's caramels. He had driven all the way from Dublin to buy some for his wife.
I help select corporate holiday gifts for Pillar To Post, a local home inspection company. In 2019, I delivered candy jars full of caramels to regional real estate offices (pre-Covid). One recipient tried a caramel right away, and exclaimed to her co-workers, "Omg, you've got to try this"!
Hubby asked me to buy some caramels for my M-I-L for her birthday. For some reason, he wanted me to buy them ahead of time. I realized that the caramels would have to go in the freezer if they were to last until the big day. Long story short: frozen caramels are delicious! (Sorry, Ann)
Caramels are not the only treat you can get from Sam; she has also mastered the art of making caramel popcorn, as well as toffee (with or without nuts) and Mama Arlene's Pecan Brittle (named after her late mother-in-law). Sam's husband, Fletcher, also has a line of handmade preserves, as well as "Gimme Somma Dat Rub", both of which look so good that they might have to be the subject of a future investigation.
